Battling Candida and Parasites Part 2: Wearing the body, adrenals and mind down.
I read somewhere recently that systemic candida is very rare. Maybe it is. I don’t know for sure, but I know I had it as I had symptoms throughout the whole body
The realisation that candida had invaded throughout my entire body was that my vision was starting to become abnormal and it was like I looking through a smudgy mist all the time. The problem started in one eye and then grew to the other as well, and no matter how much I rubbed my eyes, the film which had grown over the lense was not budging.
As I mentioned, I had lived with strange symptoms for a large portion of my life: the white/yellow coated tongue, vaginal thrush, brain fog, moodiness, bloated stomache, toe and toenail fungus, but this, my impaired vision, was by far the scariest development in my ill health. It was only after I researched the various manifestations of candida that I realised that blurred vision was yet another ’symptom’, and the penny finally dropped that the yeast was systemic.
Let me say, I think it takes a long time for the body to get to this point now looking back. I hate to think where it would have ended had I not intervened. I have a feeling cancer is what comes next….
I am 44 years old, and this has been going on a long time… I have had the white tongue for many years (which was the first symptom showing overgrowth in the intestines); for as long as I can remember and which doctors despite showing them, did nothing about. I have had the big bloated stomach for about 6 years and the toe fungus for 2 and the brain fog, confusion and memory loss for about 2. The eyes were the last to sucummb. Hyphal, the fungal form of candida shows up as segmented “worms” in the eyes and can be seen especially when looking into bright light. The candida overgrowth starts in the guts, transmutes into its fungal form and invades the body if you aren’t strong enough to fight it. The body does not sucumb quickly obviously, it fights if it can, but it gets tired and overrun and no longer able to defend itself. Parasites move in too.
Thank god my brain was strong and clear enough to research information on the internet amoungst this haze of yeast and parasites. At times, I must say, I found it very hard to read the most simple of instructions and information, my brain fog and memory was so impaired.
I was desperate and scared.
I learned too in my reading, that my adrenals needed attention, and fast. I wish I had have known this much earlier as maybe I never would have reached the crisis I did. Readers may know that adrenals have alot to do with stress and coping.
When the body is chronically overrun with parasties and candida, stress (emotional as well as physical), and is generally depleted and tired, the adrenals really suffer and a cascade of problems occur with an inability of the body to defend itself against disease. I began addressing my adrenal health with adding sea salt to my water, taking 500 mgs of Vitamin B5 2 x a day, Vitamin C 500 mgs x 2 per day, and a strong multi vitamin as well as cycling adaptogens including ashwagandha, schisandra berry, and astragalas. I also began to consciously avoid stressful situations, toxic people and avoided strenuous exercise. I purposefully became much gentler with myself. This regime helped alot in stabilising my mood, increasing my ability to withstand stress, and was an important missing piece of my health puzzle.
I also learned that adrenals and thyroid health are inextricably linked one to the other so it was no suprise I had issues with both; especially as I was on synthroid which can aggravate adrenals if they are already stressed!
Candida hasn't been something I've considered because when I was having colonics my practitioner said I definitely didn't have it. I wasn't so sure. They also told me after tests I didn't have worms or parasites.
Your blog is great. Very detailed.
Thanks for your lovely feedback. I think it takes a sufferer to really know and understand it. Too many people weigh in with little or no reading, nor any personal experience.
I am 21 years old medical student from Slovakia and I find your blog very interesting. When you refer to the film seeing over your eyes, do you mean something like floaters? The curves appearing in your eye sight when you look into the broad daylight? I have been suffering some time from those and I really can`t do anything about it, because my eye doctor doesn`t think that there is anything wrong with my eye... So I want to ask whether you only took diflucan and your symptoms got better? Thanks for answering!
