Battling Candida and Parasites Part 1
At this stage in my journey, I knew I had two new problems in my life to deal with: parasites and candida. I was more concerned about the candida at this point in time because it had, 1. taken over my foot and toe nail, and 2., I was developing strange visual disturbances as if a film was starting to grow over my eyes. I was very concerned thinking that perhaps these visual disturbances were to become permanent.
I should mention at this juncture that I still had a goitre growing in my neck in the remaining thyroid lobe (surgical removal of one half of my thyroid gland had been performed a few years earlier) with 3 nodules as picked up by an ultrasound. I was experiencing regular episodes of painful thyroiditis, a condition I was well acquianted with, and I began wondering whether all of my problems were related to my now obvious infection with parasties and fungi.
I started to research candida and what I could do about it. There were lots of things I tried including grapefruit seed extract drops (also known as GSE) in water, garlic, and pau d’arco which I cycled. I didn’t see much change, but then a body full of fungi I realised later, has a very long way to go….
I decided to try some over the counter medication “diflucan” which is a medication for thrush, and took a small course of this drug over a few weeks. I saw results. My vision started to clear, the skin on my body started to change in colour and texture from a sticky yellow to a clean pinkish tone. Seeing these results made me realise that candida was affecting my whole being. I decided to keep going; but not with the diflucan as I had been warned that this drug is very hard on the liver, and also, like any other treatment, the yeasts will find a way to mutate beyond the effects of diflucan.
But at any rate, I know I was onto something… and I felt empowered. The next thing I tried was olive leaf extract, which in my experience, is the best yeast killer I have ever used. It is so strong, that the die off experienced from killing so much fungi put me in bed for a week. It is a fantastic supplement and I’m sure people must be put off by the “side effects". Instead, I learned that side effects can often be a very good sign that the treatment is working.
