Sudden Appearance of Lump on Wrist
Back in February I noticed a weird, strange lump appear literally overnight on my wrist. I wasn’t sure at first what it was. I got a bit of a shock when I first saw it. It was quite big. Here’s a picture of my hand showing the lump.
It is called a ganglion. I’d never even heard of it. It looks exactly like the picture in the link below, of what I found on the web -
AND mine is in exactly the same place, on the wrist.
I wasn’t overly concerned about the lump but it did surprise me how it seemed to just appear, literally overnight. I woke up one morning and there it was! I remember thinking to myself, that wasn’t there yesterday! Was it? What the heck is it?
Once I realised what it was I did a little more reading on ganglions as I wasn’t sure exactly why it had appeared or what had caused it. I also wondered whether it would need to be drained or surgically removed? The thought of a needle being inserted there, that would surely hurt! I didn’t like the sound of that at all. Surgical intervention was not what I wanted.
I’d also read of a rather strange, old-fashioned method of getting rid of a ganglion cyst - to bash it with a bible! (Hence the name ‘bible bump’.) Of course, anyone who has a ganglion cyst, I am not advocating this at all! I certainly wasn’t brave enough to hit mine with a bible, that’s for sure. I just thought it best to leave well alone.
Over the last couple of weeks I have noticed it has started to go down in size, it’s definitely much smaller and it isn’t protruding out so much. Here’s the latest picture of it - you can just see it beneath the skin. What a difference in size.
On further research I read that possible causes could be an injury, overuse of a joint or build up of toxins which crystalise and form a cyst.
I relayed this to the person who has made up my protocol. If the ganglion is perhaps caused by toxins, perhaps I wasn’t getting the toxins out quick enough? I’m not sure.
But I’m happy to say that my ganglion is reducing in size. I can only hope in time that it will finally disappear.
